Mama Congo. Women at the heart of Africa

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is one of the most difficult places in the world to be a woman. Located in the heart of Africa, it carries a long history of violence and poverty. Yet in recent years, many women have raised their voices to claim their place and put an end to a social model that excludes and silences them. The documentary portrays the current reality of Congolese women through the eyes and testimonies of nurses, academics, police officers, and gender activists who fight to transform a system that has kept them invisible for far too long. “Mama Congo. Women at the Heart of Africa” aired on March 8, 2020, International Women’s Day, on the 30 Minuts program by TV3.
